Replacement Car Keys

If you need to have replacement car keys made, the worst thing you can do is to have car dealerships do it because they're very expensive, especially if you have high-end and high-tech transponder keys. If you want to have it cheaper, have them made by locksmiths.

Hi this is Lockie Smith (not a bad name for a locksmith right?) We're not the cheapest locksmith around and we're not the most expensive either. If you want to have replacement transponder keys made by us, write down the following information: your car's make, model and year. The information will be necessary to making a replacement key from a blank key.

If you lost your key fob (the device with the authentication system, also called a transponder key), that's not a problem, we can make a new one for you. ATLG Brisbane Locksmith can also reprogram your replacement key.
You can actually look for cheap replacement keys or key fobs online. There are websites out there that offer after-market keys or factory replacements, which can be cheaper than getting them direct from the manufacturer.

Once you have your replacement keys, you can then program them to your car. If you need help with this one, we can do it for you, although programming instructions are usually included with new keys. Depending on your car, reprogramming your car keys could include turning lights and electronics on and off.

Your replacement key could be covered by your car's warranty. Sometimes high-end cars have transponder keys that can only be replaced by the manufacturer and it's entirely possible for car owners to get a new key with a warranty. If your transponder key is that kind of key, have your car information ready as well as a valid photo ID.

If you have a malfunctioning or dead key, reset your keys. A key fob can stop working after changes or repairs done to the car's electrical systems are made. We can reset your keys for you if you're not confident you can do it on your own.

How much you're going to pay really depends on keys. In general, the simpler the key is without any high-end techie frills, the cheaper it's going to be.

If you're having any kind of problem with your transponder key, just know that you can call on us to fix your keys. Again, we're not cheap but we're not terribly expensive either. At least we're cheaper than car dealerships, which says a lot about the kind of service we provide.
